Top Five Romantic Comedies Everyone Should Watch
We see movies due to different reasons such as popularity, concept and sometimes peer pressure; but the only genre of movies that we see for blowing off the steam after a strenuous day are romantic comedies. These movies allow us to escape life and its problems for a while, and allow us to be a part of a fictional character’s life and its problems. Here are our top five picks of romantic comedies everyone should see at least once in their lifetime.
1. 10 Things I Hate About You
Any movie that has Heath Ledger in it, is a guaranteed success (Yes, he is the same guy that played the Nolan version of The Joker, we can never get over). 10 Things I Hate About You centers majorly around Patrick who falls in love with an unorthodox girl, Kat; where what starts of as a bet soon turns into a reality. The movie makes us laugh, cry and most importantly fall in love with Patrick and Kat’s story. If you are a rookie to the genre of romantic movies, then this is the movie for you to stream.
2. When Harry Met Sally
One of the most popular movies of the Meg Ryan renaissance is When Harry Met Sally (We like it, but it’s good for a one time watch). The movie centers around the titular characters of Harry and Sally, that have chance encounter meetings with each other until they are forced to deal with how they feel about each other. If you want to see a natural romance movie, then When Harry Met Sally is the movie for you to stream today.
3. Sleepless in Seattle
Unpopular opinion, but we are more of a Sleepless in Seattle fan as compared to You’ve Got Mail when it comes to Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan (Who are we kidding, when has Nora Ephron ever disappointed us). The movie centers around Sam, who tries to move forward from his sorrows after his wife passing away; when his son Jonah forces him to call a radio talk show, in the pursuit of true love. This movie is definitely the most light and natural romance movie we have ever seen and it is not to be missed.
4. 50 First Dates
50 First Dates has to be our favorite pick from the Drew Barrymore renaissance (Back when movies were actually good and meaningful). The movie centers on Henry who falls in love with Lucy who suffers from short-term memory loss. The entire movie is a Déjà Vu situation in which Henry has to refresh Lucy’s memory of him each day. Our favorite funny guy, Adam Sandler does an excellent job at portraying the troubled Henry. If you are in the mood for a feel-good movie with a romance vibe, then this is the movie for you.
5. Crazy Stupid Love
Crazy Stupid Love is perhaps our second favorite romantic comedy. This movie is a fun and a light-hearted watch, that has you cracking up most of the time. The movie centers around the newly formed friendship between Cal, a soon to be divorcee and Jacob, a man who sort of has it all. Both of them discover love and relationships together, until things go terribly wrong. The movie has a stellar cast including Steve Carrel, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore and many others. If you are in the mood for a jam-packed romantic adventure story, then stream Crazy Stupid Love today.
