Last Night In Soho
After going through the entirety of 2020 without any high-budget movies; finally cinephiles are getting their prayer’s heard by the release of back to back marvelous movies (Netflix did an excellent job at keeping us entertained during the quarantine, but nothing can beat the feeling of watching a movie on a cinema screen). As part of our promise, we are here to review the latest movies gracing the cinema screens.
Last Night In Soho is a psychological thriller that is loaded with multiple twists, turns and some is this even real moments. The movie is directed by the maestro Edgar Wright; who has provided us with nothing but absolute bangers in the past (Baby Driver is a class apart; we still haven’t seen a movie come close to it within that genre).
This movie follows an aspiring fashion designer, Eloise who is able to enter a time loop in the 1960’s until the dreams of the past suck her in to a dark place full of terror and agony. Eloise encounters Sandie, and aspiring actress and singer who was trying to make it big in London during the 1960’s. The movie follows both the stories of Eloise and Sandie as parallels, and succeeds in keeping the viewer’s hooked to the cinema screens.
The movie is able to provide it’s viewer’s a complete theatrical experience from start to finish; this is one of the few movies that doesn’t feel rushed or slowed down at all, rather it moves at an acceptable pace that attracts the viewer’s further down the rabbit hole. The cinematography and overall design of the set help in providing the viewer’s with an authentic 1960’s experience.
The movie includes stellar performances from Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Matt Smith, Dianne Rigg and many others. The movie is a must-watch for lovers of the psychological thriller and horror genre; and it is bound to provide you a complete cinematic experience that you haven’t experienced in a long while. The movie is a solid 4.5/5 stars for us, and is an instant recommendation for anyone who wants to have a good time.
