Pakistani drama industry is quite famous as compared to other mediums like Theatre and film industry due to its service delivery and story line it used to be shown in past. Credibility of Pakistani drama gained momentum in 80’s and 90’s when dramas main focus was the content and story line which was based on progressive approach along with taking masses on board while bringing societal issues in knowledge of public with valuable lessons.
It is referred as a golden era of Pakistani drama industry as in that time span multiple amazing dramas were being produced. Some of famous dramas which include Dhoop Kinaray, Unkahe, Tanhaiyaan, and Alpha Bravo Charlie earned fan following across the border. But with the passage of time weak written script with no solid story line started to take place in dramas which lower the quality and effectiveness of dramas owing to the fact that irrelevant and useless issues are being discussed instead of real problems for which our dramas were bring famous in past.
Still, in 20th century, Pakistani drama quality is lagging behind the world and it is struck somewhere in stories related to envy, family degradation and love triangle which is manipulating our youth mindset in negative manner. It is interesting to note that Pakistani nation is still fond of Pakistani dramas despite the fact that its content is deprecated.
Though while keeping in mind the fame of our dramas, producer need to rethink about their stories and massage they are giving to the masses that they should be of progressive nature and positive aspect should be discussed while highlighting the basic issues of the society as we have a remarkable example of 90’s era dramas that how progressive and lesson driven they were along with bringing country’s problem at forefront.
